Cranberry Mulled Wine
When it comes to the traditional cranberry sauce on the Thanksgiving table, there's usually a "take it or leave it" feeling associated. If it turns out not too many decided to add it to the plate, this mulled wine recipe is an excellent way to use up leftover cranberry sauce. A couple cups of the sauce, wine (or cider), and some mulling spices are all it takes to whip up a batch of this warm and cozy beverage. Sip alongside a slice of leftover pumpkin pie.

-
1 to 2 cups cranberry sauce
-
1/4 cup honey
-
750 ml red wine or 3½ cups apple cider
-
2 stick cinnamon sticks
-
6 clove whole cloves
-
2 pod star anise
-
1 large orange, sliced into rounds
Directions
-
In a large saucepan melt cranberry sauce over medium. Add honey and wine, whisking to combine. Add spices and orange. Warm until just steaming, then reduce heat to low. Simmer gently 10 minutes. Ladle into mugs.
