Slow Cooker Italian Sausage Grinders
Ingredients

2 pound bulk hot or sweet Italian sausage

1 ½ cup green sweet pepper strips

1 cup sliced yellow onion

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 14.5 ounce can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, undrained

1 14.5 ounce can crushed tomatoes

1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning, crushed

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

¼ - ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper

¼ teaspoon salt
-
12 French-style rolls or hoagie buns, split and toasted

1 ½ - 2 cup shredded provolone cheese (6 to 8 oz.)
Directions

In a 12-inch skillet cook sausage, sweet pepper, onion, and garlic over medium heat until meat is browned; drain off fat.

Transfer meat mixture to a 4- to 5-qt. slow cooker. Stir in next six ingredients (through salt). Cover and cook on low 4 hours or high 2 hours.

After toting, keep warm, covered, on warm or low up to 2 hours if desired. Fill rolls with meat mixture and top with cheese.
